Celebrating Over 60 Years of Service
A lot of things have changed for M & L Industries during the past 64 Years of Business… Products, Employees, Locations, Service, but during that time one company principle has remained the same: To Meet or Exceed the Customer’s Needs.
“We are committed, above all else at M & L Industries, that our Customers be treated as a Neighbor and a Friend,” says Marvin Marmande Sr., and that philosophy and commitment is carried on today in his son Steven. “We have never taken our focus off our customers because they are the ones for the past 65 years have made M & L Industries so successful. Our Customers can trust us to be there when they need us.”
In the early 1950’s two young men had a dream to start a tractor dealership in Houma, a small Louisiana town. At the time no one could have predicted this small farm machinery business would become one of the most successful equipment dealerships in Louisiana.
March 1, 1953, Marvin Marmande Sr. and R.E. Lee established M & L Tractor Company as a FORD tractor and New Holland hay equipment dealership, the first of its kind in Terrebonne Parish. Offering only one Ford tractor model and one New Holland baler, rake, and mower model and the store was located on the corner of Barrow and Verret Streets. It soon outgrew the facility and in 1959 moved to a new building at 1203 St. Charles Street, across from its present home office at 1210 St. Charles Street.
One of the next changes for the company was in 1962 when M & L Engine Company was formed. In 1967 the engine company moved into its own building adjacent to the main office, M & L Engine was separated into a separate company in 1994. And, in 1967 Marvin Marmande became the sole owner of M & L Industries upon the death of R.E. Lee.
Today, over 64 years later, our customer-driven company has grown to become a multi-million dollar business with four locations in Houma, Baton Rouge, Broussard and New Orleans that offer several brands of equipment. With some 108 employees and a commitment to quality, service and products, M & L Industries has proven itself as one of the highest rated equipment specialists in the state. And, offering sales, lease and rental of equipment.
“Our original principles of honestly, providing service that’s second to none, and going beyond all limits to satisfy our customer’s needs are as strong today as they were in 1953. And, those principles will continue well into the future,” said Steve Marmande, President. “We are proud of our employees and their dedication to our customers. Our employees – we have always had an extremely low turnover – are a key component to our success through all these years.” The Marmande’s echo the belief that “Our Customers are Our Neighbors and Friends… and we want them treated as such. Like a Family, Our Company takes great pride in the fact that Our Customers can trust us to be there when they need us. All of our officers and employees have the willingness to go beyond the sale to assure customer satisfaction. We want our customers to walk away with a positive experience.”
One area of the company that has seen considerable changes is in Service. We have always offered outstanding service that’s second to none, but in today’s constantly changing equipment design and environment to computerized operations it has required more training and class work for our highly-trained mechanics.
Not only do we offer service on the equipment we sell, but also on a variety number of other brands. In addition, we offer “Fleet Trax” whereby a customer can easily see the history of a piece of their equipment from tune-ups, service, hours of operation, minor and major repairs to what it costs him to own the equipment.
We are committed to providing 24-hour parts and repair service 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Our ability to get a fully-trained service technician to a job site as quickly as possible minimizes down time for our customer.
